Adventures are categorized according to several criteria. First, you have the choice between investigations and puzzles. Investigations delve into lesser-known parts of the Elite Dangerous lore. Puzzles are fan-made scenarios that allow you to go geocaching in Elite Dangerous and discover unique locations in the game.

The beginner level should be accessible to the majority of players. You are relatively guided, and the puzzles are simple. The higher the difficulty level, the less assistance you receive. Also, advanced difficulty levels often require knowledge of the techniques used by Frontier to hide information in the game (e.g., encryption (rot13, ...), mythology, among others).

The higher the difficulty, the higher the reward in points. The length of an adventure also influences the associated score.
