You don’t like traveling or fighting alone in the galaxy, and your friends prefer to play Star Citizen? Do you find yourself alone on Elite Dangerous? So you decide to hire a pilot to fight the pirates and travel the galaxy by your side.

So, on paper the idea sounds good, but you need to know a few things first:

• A pilot isn’t free: he’ll receive part of your income (which depends on his level and the level at which you recruited him. I therefore advise you to recruit a « Harmless » driver who, once he reaches « Elite », will cost you « only » 10% of your income).
• A pilot gains experience by fighting alongside you. Except that if your pilot is on the ship with you, you share the experience gained. In other words, with a non-player pilot on board, you gain combat ranks half as fast.
• You have to give orders to your pilot. But be careful: if you make a mistake and target an ally, your pilot may attack him, making you a wanted pilot.
