Galactic Hunt: How to Play
The L.J.P.C. sends you to observe worlds and stars in order to refine the rendering of their colors in EDGIS. A validated discovery earns you a booster and is added to your Galactic Codex.
Choose a target
The hunting page lists several weekly targets. Check the body type, temperature, and—when applicable—the composition or atmosphere.
Find it in your system
Travel to a system that contains a matching body. Use “Check My Current System”: the search function checks for known bodies in the system, using the logbook as a backup for systems not yet included in EDGIS.
Zoom in on the target body
Open the system map, not the galaxy map. Select the celestial body that corresponds to the target and zoom in enough so that it appears large, clear, and easily identifiable, as if you were viewing the system map up close. However, keep the system name visible at the top of the screen.
Send the screenshot
When "Target found!" appears, attach your screenshot. The system checks it before it's sent, and the name visible in the image is automatically read aloud. Your observation is then added to your collection.
Optional: Galactic Hunt plugin for EDHM-UI
For even cleaner screenshots, you can use the Galactic Hunt plugin for EDHM-UI. It’s not required to participate, but it lets you capture the map without the crosshairs or the cyan or orange highlight circle from the cursor. EDHM-UI
Why these targets?
The requested ranges explore different temperature, atmospheric, and compositional conditions. They help compare the game's rendering with that of EDGIS, particularly for gas giants, terrestrial worlds, and stars.
