You've probably heard of the Guardians, an extraterrestrial humanoid race that has been extinct for at least a million years? This adventure will help you find out more and discover... wonders!
This adventure is brought to you by your ED Trip agency. Find out more with this article. Enjoy your flight CMDR!
No doubt you've also heard of Guadian technology - the kind you see in magazines specializing in starships and weapons? In fact, it has recently become possible for all licensed pilots to unlock Guardian modules, weapons and fighters. How about doing the same, right now?
Our agency will guide you on how to obtain the materials and data needed to unlock these items. We'll take you on a tour of beacons, active and abandoned bases, and help you trigger ancient and beautiful mechanisms created by this long-extinct species. During this adventure, we'll also put you on track to find out a lot more about the Guardians by completing a mission for a famous engineer. But we'll also introduce you to a weekly shuttle system linking the bubble and the Guardians sites! Admit it, the value for money of this adventure is appetizing, isn't it? What's more, our Agency has selected a location that allows you to visit a series of Guardian bases and sites with each less than 100 LY from the next!
All set? Then let's get started (note that the first stage of our journey requires you to have at least one laser weapon, with no minimum size, installed on your ship).
For this adventure, you'll be guided through the first steps by our Specialist Guide Ron, new to our Agency!
As always, our Agency declines all responsibility for the loss of your ship or your death.
Please arrange your ad hoc insurance and notify your loved ones of your participation in this ED TRIP adventure.

HIP 36823
Traces of Guardian structures were recently discovered: on October 27 3302 Commander XDeath discovered an ancient ruin in the Synuefe XR-H D11-102 system (which you can go and see if you like). On October 31, the news is announced in the Galnet (see the news) and sends shockwaves throughout the Galaxy. As soon as the news is announced, we learn that this discovery is only the first of many. And one engineer, Ram Tah, quickly focuses most of his research on these discoveries. This quickly made him the undisputed Guardian specialist. On January 10, 3303, Ram Tah made available a decoding system that would enable him to read and understand the mysteries enclosed in the structures (more on this in a later section).
For the moment, we're going to the system where a fairly recently discovered Guardian structure called the "Guardian Beacon" is located in order to activate it and retrieve an ancient key! The first beacon was discovered in August 3304 following an announcement by Ram Tah, of which here's an extract (read the full news): "My research very often leads me to analyze data obtained by surveillance satellites and vessels that have detected unusual signals. While most of them turn out to be harmless, this is not the case with these three energy signatures, which I believe deserve further investigation."
In this adventure, you'll be accompanied by a new member of our team: Ron. Ron is a Thargo-Guardian Specialist Guide, who has already made the journey to these sites several times, and he'll be guiding you around the Guardian sites.
Hello buddy, nice to meet you. Listen, we're gonna take it easy and have some fun. That's what we're here for, right?
OK, let's check out this big thing. Now approach the Guardian Beacon indicated in the system. It's less than 1000 Ls from the arrival star. Don't worry, it's safe (however, my employers ask me to remind you that in the event of destruction or death, as previously indicated, the Agency cannot be held responsible and will not cover your insurance or funeral expenses). Nice guys... let's get on with it).
As you can see, the beacon is made up of a central structure that we'll learn to activate and three "arms" located towards the bottom of the latter (blue beams emerge from each arm).
Place yourself in front of one of the arms and aim at the little blue sphere, then shoot at it with a laser. A message tells you that the arm is activated and a countdown timer starts. Don't panic, you've got 3 minutes to shoot the other two arms. Go, I'm sure you can! When all 3 arms are active, you'll receive a message indicating that the beacon is activated.
Are we good? So take a step back, buddy, and enjoy a splendid family sound and light show as the beacon opens before your bemused eyes.
Once the beacon is open, notice the sphere surrounded by a blue halo at the very top. Move in close, target it and scan it with your data link scanner.
Once you've completed this step, step back a little. The structure closes... and .... and, that's it ?
... [Crackling sound]...
Finally, check your messages. You normally received a signal detected when you scanned the sphere. This indicates our next destination, an active guardian base at HIP 36781. Now all we have to do is get there, but before we do, take the time to read one last bit of family advice:
You know, I've done this countless times! No need to find another beacon to get a new key. Just have a quiet cup of family coffee (editor's note: log out and log back in) and you can retrieve a key again. It's so easy! They're useful for the basics, but also as bedside lamps, or for resale. That's up to you, buddy.
Once you've finished, let's meet again for stage 2 of our adventure.'
Once the step is completed, proceed to the next step
HIP 36781
Ship Blueprint
You've arrived at the HIP 36781 system, which isn't all that small! But don't worry, you've got everything you need in the code you received. You need to go to planet A 6 B;
So this is the second planet (B) orbiting the sixth star (a type Y) of star A, which is about 3800 Ls from you... OK... That's normal... take a look at the image opposite.
To guide you, we'll let Ron give you a few tips and instructions on how to activate the machine;
You see, buddy, these bases all work pretty much the same way. I'll give you some tips on how to get a ship's blueprint.
Listen carefully and learn, because for the next two bases you'll be on your own. They'll allow you to pick up Guardian weapon and module blueprints.
.
Ron transmits a list of tasks numbered 1 to 8:
<1/ The bases are full of sentinels that you'll have to destroy. That's the first thing to do. And don't forget to collect the materials after they've been blown up! It's ultra-important for unlocking Guardian items. If you can't see anything because it's dark: activate headlights or night vision... or go to sleep and come back tomorrow morning!
2/ While the base is being cleaned, try to scout the area. There are 6 pylons to get out of the ground. These come out of a kind of ugly triangle... well that's my opinion OK?
3/ Once you've cleaned up, save some ammo, because sentries will be back when you activate the whole mess! And now, the idea is to get the 6 pylons to come out and be easy to spot. I'll give you a map, and I'd advise you to get them out in the order shown, so that it works every time (always try to get the pylons out near the big machine), but it's up to you, buddy.
4/ When the pylons are out, shoot at them. Aim for the sphere as you would for the structure in space. Normally you'll hear an activation noise. There's also a kind of blue prism that goes up the pylon. And when it's active, a blue beam points skywards. Beautiful, isn't it? Yes, but don't waste your time daydreaming, because there's a countdown!
5/ Continue the pylon activations, but breathe....you're all pale! With each activation, the system gives you extra time. It's easy!
6/ Once you've activated the 2 pylons in front of the big machine, sentries will return. Destroy them and return to the ship for the key. Relax, all 6 pylons are activated: you've got all the time in the world!
7/ Go back to the machine and activate it by standing on the symbol on the floor in front of the machine. Drop the key and BOOM! The machine starts up and a mega sphere pops out.
8/ Use your data link scanner to scan the machine and you'll automatically retrieve your ship blueprint. Easy, isn't it? It's not even 10 steps, you know? Be careful, though: new sentinels may appear after the machine is activated. You know the drill: destroy them and retrieve their components!'
****
How did it go with Ron? Yes, it did. Once you've finished on this base and collected your ship's blueprint (and all the components you want), it's time to leave. If you like, you can pick up some relics here - there are plenty on this site, and it will save you searching for them on the next bases. But, as Ron says, "It's up to you;
On to stage 3 of our adventure.
Once the step is completed, proceed to the next step
SYNUEFE GT-H B43-1
Module and weapon blueprints
Part A - SYNUEFE GT-H B43-1
You only have to read this month's Galnet for August 3309 to understand that the Guardians are back in the spotlight...and it's motivating quite a few people. So listen, for the next part you'll be going to two new active bases to pick up module and weapon plans. The operation is exactly the same as for the base we've just done.
Come on, see ya and fly safe buddy!
****
So you're on your own again. But, as Ron points out, we're here to guide you. Rendezvous in two systems for this third stage. We start with SYNUEFE GT-H B43-1 and the planet C4 (the fourth star of this system's third star) located at around 27,000 Ls. Again, this is a base. It works in the same way as the previous one: scouting, cleaning, activating pylons starting with those near the machine and activating with a relic. Don't worry, Ron has left you a bit of help in the form of a map of this base, which you can find above. Good luck!
Once you've destroyed the sentries, recovered the components and brought out the pylons, collect an antique relic. Indeed, as Ron told you, the machines at these last two active bases require relics to function. You'll find them on totem poles, such as the blue prism at the very top. Once you've got some in your hold, go to the symbol in front of the machine and pick up the map!
Ron did, however, pass on one of his most valuable pieces of advice:
What I like about these bases is looking around a bit.
If I remember correctly, taking a 60-70° heading you should find plenty of plants and raw materials to pick up by the shovelful!
This is pretty common around Guardian sites... and might as well combine business with pleasure!!!
Go to part B of this step
Part B - SYNUEFE EU-Q C21-10
For this step, you're really on your own. The procedure is the same as in step A, but this time you'll be picking up a weapon blueprint. The site is on planet A 3, less than 500 Ls from your arrival star;
But don't worry... you've obviously caught Ron's eye. Because it's you, he wanted to send you one of his sketches. He's also passed on a few tips for you :
If it's dark, activate night vision buddy.
If you're lost: launch your drone (outdoor camera) and get some height, it's immediately easier.
And finally: I've got into the habit of always taking a top-view photo when I arrive at a new base.
This helps me enormously!
Once you've finished, move on to stage 4 of our adventure.
Once the step is completed, proceed to the next step
SYNUEFE TP-F b44-0
Ancient Ruins
We will now go to the Synuefe TP-F b44-0 system, where we'll find a new type of base.
In fact, we're going back in time to visit ancient ruins discovered before the active sites we've just visited.
The Guardian ruin where you'll be landing is on the C D 1 planet in the system (it's about 1200 Ls away), and you can land there without fear as the base is empty.
For information this is the eleventh ruin discovered, on February 12 3303 by CMDRs Madwax and mGtRd.
Have you landed? Yes, we have. You should know that you're currently on an old site that contains no sentinals or machines to operate. However, don't think that this place is totally useless or out of order. This is an ancient Guardian ruin, the first type of Guardian structure to be discovered. The first ruin was found on October 27, 3302 by Commander XDeath and is located 425.14 LY from here, in the Synuefe XR-H d11-102 system (planet 1B)...so don't hesitate to take a look!
The project for this base is to retrieve Guardian data. While it was possible to find obelisks on the previously visited bases, you'll find that this base has many more! It's perfect for replenishing your stock of Guardian data needed to unlock Guardian modules, weapons and ships. Take the opportunity to fill up!
To do so, nothing could be simpler. Find an active obelisk (a panel is displayed in blue) and scan it. That's all there is to it! Admit it, you're an expert now! We're sure Ron's very proud of you!
It is also possible to collect Guardian artifacts from this site (as well as from active bases). These can be resold, but are also necessary items for the missions given by Ram Tah (see below). On Guardian bases, you can find Orbs, Tablets, Totems, Urns and Caskets, not forgetting, of course, Relics.
For the record, there are various plans for ancient ruins, but not many in reality. To date, scientists have categorized only 6: Alpha 1, Alpha 2, Beta 1, Beta 2, Gamma 1 and Gamma 2. With a little practice, you'll recognize them! The ruins in this system include Alpha 1.
When you've finished, move on to the last stage of our adventure, but please take the time to read the paragraph below on Ram Tah's missions concerning current knowledge about the Guardians.
Ram Tah's Missions.
Would you like to know more about the mysteries of the Guardians? Well, it's possible, thanks to engineer Ram Tah. He has developed a decoding system to recover knowledge about the Guardians. The mission is offered in the Meene system and the Felice Dock station, where you must land. Once you've done so, you'll be prompted to retrieve 101 bits of data. To do this, you'll need to have the right artifacts in your SRV's cargo bay and be standing in front of the right obelisk. If so, you'll collect information about the Guardians in the following categories: Biology, Culture, History, Language and Technology. You may have noticed that Totems have different glyphs. Each indicates the Guardian item 'expected' to become active in this mission.
Source : Remlok Industries
Of course, we're talking about a mission in its own right, and one that will take some time! To help you follow this trail, a document is available showing you the locations and combinations to retrieve the data. This document is available at this address (download it to your ship's on-board computer to use it). However, if you don't want to do this amazing mission and receive the 100 million credits on offer, no worries. We've compiled all the data in this table.
Once the step is completed, proceed to the next step
SYNUEFE EN-H d11-96
Bridging the Gap
You now know a lot about the Guardians and how to get what you need from the technology broker.
But before we conclude this adventure, let's take a trip to a nearby system, to Synuefe EN-H d11-96.
When you arrive in this system, you'll probably notice that there's a megaship. It's either the "Conduit" or the "Sadler's Song", depending on the week.
Did you know that these megaships have been created specifically to perform a shuttle service between the bubble and the Guardians sites? And it's free!
Bridging the gap was the first galactic initiative to occupy the pilot community between the end of April and the end of May 3305. The Zende Partners faction wanted to bridge the gap between the Zende system, 541 LY from where you are, and the Guardian sites. The plan was to create two megaships to run a weekly shuttle service (departing every Thursday morning), available to pilots, especially those less fortunate or equipped. But the initiative also enabled outposts to be built. You'll find two in this system: The Prospect and Indigo Dock. Before landing on the megaship, be sure to visit The Prospect, where you'll find a much appreciated service: a Guardian technology broker... Perhaps this is your chance to unlock your first module?! (Note that following the galactic initiative, the Zende Partners sub-faction got their hands on the system. The second Outpost therefore also has a broker).
Bridging the gap took place in 4 phases over 4 weeks:
The first was a pilot vote for the megaship destination system from Zende (pilots voted for Synuefe EN-H d11-96). On May 9, the two megaships, The Conduit and Sadler's Song, were deployed for ferry service. A new outpost was also added to the Synuefe EN-H d11-96 system. A second was built in the Wregoe XQ-L c21-29 system, some 400 LY away, to provide a rest area on the way to the Guardian sites.
During the following stages, Guardian materials were requested to set up a contact in Guardian technology on The Prospect. In addition, a conflict broke out between Zende Partners and Segnen Exchange for domination of the Synuefe EN-H d11-96 system. In the end, with the help of the pilots, Zende Partners won the battle and reclaimed Indigo Dock. Finally, the last phase saw the release of an advanced multi-gun (see the weapons and special modules sheet) that can still be purchased today.
But don't think the story stops there! Very recently, a second exceptional site was discovered. The site contains not only Guardians, but also Thargoids, with signs of fighting between the two species. This is the second site to be discovered, and it's already causing quite a stir (read news). Why not drop in for a visit? You'll find Thargoids items and two Guardian bases to unlock blueprints! This system is located 1,115.34 LY away and is called Wregoe BU-Y b2-0.
The first such site was discovered much earlier, in June 3307. In addition to the Guardian and Thargoid sites, there's an Anaconda called Proteus...which is obviously linked to Azimuth.... but that's another story. (If you'd also like to visit this site, it's in the Trapezium Sector YU-X c1-2 system on planet 1A) nearly 1,000 LY from Wregoe BU-Y b2-0 (Read the news).
