The war against the Thargoids seems to be escalating at the end of this year 3308. Humanity is growing more and more fearful, and you sometimes wonder what threads intertwine Aegis, Azimuth Biotech, the Club, and all the companies and factions whose names appear in the Galnet news.
But did you know that this isn’t the first war Humanity has waged against the Thargoids?
This adventure is brought to you by your ED Trip agency and written by CMDR StefBlood. Find out more with this article. Have a good flight CMDR!
In this rather long adventure, Medicorp takes you on a journey across a small part of the galaxy, in search of the lost bases of a company which, in its day, had waged war against the Thargoids. Several lines of research were launched, and one of them resulted in a "victory" against the invaders, making them leave our Galaxy - forever, it was thought - until they came back, of course, in 3303...
Intrigued by this first war? Let's follow her as she discovers the company and the players of the time...

And if we start with the end?
Go to the second moon of the first planet in the system HIP 12099. Scan the planet's surface and you should find a human crash site. If not, go to coordinates -54.38 -50.358, and land not far from a ship: a blue Cobra, crashed.
Around the ship you'll find four red beacons, scan them and discover the latest messages from a certain commander: John Jameson.
Does the name ring a bell? Maybe because he's the great-grandfather of Lori Jameson, one of the engineers you met in the Bubble...
The messages you found date from the end of the first war against the Thargoids: in 3151, John Jameson struck a fatal blow with a biological weapon, spreading death among the enemy.
John Jameson, refers to a hive ship, and suggests that the weapon it carried had been prepared for a long time, certainly in secret bases, the weapon being just as secret, and above all unknown to the general public.
Pro-tip: take advantage of your visit to this crash site to collect important data (on each light terminal), one of which is at least level 5!
Let's find out more about these basics...
You can skip to step 2 to follow a chronological trail, but since we're thinking about your fuel consumption, we'd rather give you a closer track: as you leave the surface, go to this planet's first moon (HIP 12099 1 A) and scan the surface in detail. Ah! Find an abandoned base there? Let's explore it, shall we?
Keep these interesting logs in mind, and you'll find everything will become clearer during your future visits...
Once the step is completed, proceed to the next step
HIP 15329
As you fly to HIP 15329, let's explore how these bases were discovered...
Trailer image
Imagine that an independent pilot has found this base, and made a souvenir video. Overjoyed at his discovery, he sends his work to his family back on Sol. In the meantime, the pilot disappears, unable to indicate where his film was shot.
Against this backdrop, Galnet has released a video showing an abandoned base.
Immediately, a number of independent pilots began searching for this base.
And in October 3303, the Wing Atlantis, Osiris and Children of Raxxla announced the news: the base had been found thanks to skyboxing, a technique involving analyzing the video's space background and repositioning in space to match stars and nebulae, then searching every moon and planet (because surface scanners didn't exist back then) to finally find the base!
So here we are at Stuart Retreat, we'll leave you to pick up the four logs on the base's uplinks.
Have you finished? You should know that there are 10 other databases, each containing a batch of information relating to INRA and their work on tipping the balance of war. You already have two leads if you've followed the logs in this base.
Ready for a long journey? Let's go !
Once the step is completed, proceed to the next step
More bases!
You'll need to head to the following systems to discover other bases and their logs: Hermitage Alnath HIP 59382 HIP 7158 LP 389-95
Find the bases: Hollis Gateway (Hermitage 4 A) then Klatt Enterprises (Alnath A 2 A A). In the logs for these bases (at Klatt, especially), you'll find the path to the following, which we give here: Mayes Chemical Plant (HIP 59382 1 B) which will lead you to Hogan Depot (HIP 7158 A 2 B), which in turn will lead you to Velasquez Medical Research Centre (LP 389-95 7).
Have you visited these bases? You're now at 7, in principle, and that's already more than half of the INRA bases known to date. If you want to shorten your journey, you can go to the last step (step 5, before arrival) of our guide. But that would be to miss out on some other very important information about INRA and its research against the Thargoids...
Once the step is completed, proceed to the next step
4 other bases
You'll need to navigate the following systems to discover other bases and their logs:
Teegarden’s Star Conn HIP 16824 12 Trianguli
This leaves you with 4 bases to visit, but they can't be found by reference in the logs of the other bases. So you'd have to wander around the area to find a lead.
We suggest you pretend you're wandering around looking for a clue and come across a beacon: set course for Teegarden's Star, heading for the 2nd planet.
Find the beacon! (If you're lucky enough to get there close to the hour, stay a while 😉 ).
In this system, and in HIP 8887, HR 1188 A 2, AIN 2 (you can take a tour if you like, but it's not necessary for this trip), unregistered communication beacons emit a message every hour, rather in clear text (and audio), so it's easy to decipher. These beacons send you to INRA bases, including one you've already discovered via the Mayes base, another you visited in stage 1, but also to the "last" 3 bases.
Go to:
Conn A 3 A (35 Al from your current position)
HIP 16824 A 2 F,
12 Trianguli A 1
And finally, if you haven't already done so in step 1: HIP 12099 1 A.
Now that's a fine collection of harvested logs, don't you think? Ten INRA bases!
And since we need a dessert for such a good tasting, let's move on to the next stage, which will be the last of our trip...
Once the step is completed, proceed to the next step
The last
Go to the system DG Canum Venaticorum, planet A4A.
We've come to the end of our journey, CMDR, but you need to go to the last of these bases, which was found much later than the first 10, since a message from Dr. Alba Tesreau was sent to certain pilots in May 3308! It contained information on how to get there. Let's go to DG Canum Venaticorum A 4 A and find the 5 messages from this base.
Ah! INRA, Azimuth, it's all coming together! We hope that everything is becoming clearer from now on!
You've reached the end of this adventure.
I hope we haven't abused your flying time unnecessarily, and that this trip has shown you one of the darker sides of humanity, which, when threatened, is capable of eradicating, destroying and annihilating, without a thought for future consequences;
Past meets present, alas, and here we are again, having tried to eradicate the Thargoids. At the end of the first war, the thargoids had retreated. What will they do now?
This is another story...
