A recent transmission contradicts the official death of Stan Grayling. Among scattered wreckage and abandoned facilities, surprising clues await discovery. Find out whether this missing man is the victim of a conspiracy… or if an obscure and present danger danger hides in the shadows.
Your last case left an open wound. Marven Hale, your mentor and friend... the one you'd placed blind trust in, turned out to be corrupt. Bribes, rigged compensation, hidden secrets. Everything you thought you knew about him crumbled in an instant. Then came this obscure message, hinting at the existence of an organization lurking in the shadows for which Marven Hale seemed to be working, exploiting GIC's loopholes for purposes as yet elusive.
You, who had always believed him incorruptible, can't banish the gnawing thought: who was he really? Unfortunately his death a year ago, in a field accident, will leave these questions forever unanswered.

Stan Grayling
When Stan Grayling died in 3305, his family received the proceeds of his life insurance policy. The file was closed, the mourning sealed, the case considered closed.
But today, everything is in turmoil: the GIC has just recovered, via an anonymous transmission, a communication from Stan Grayling dated 3308, disturbing proof that he may not have died three years earlier as attested by the death certificate provided by the family. Behind this name resurfaces a troubling case: Family fraud? Disappearance orchestrated by a private organization? Government manipulation?
Only one thing remains certain: the truth is not what GIC has been led to believe.

You're sent to the Brokutsu system, the last known location of Stan Grayling's ship transponder. Your mission: find the wreckage, uncover the deception and clear the air.
Once the step is completed, proceed to the next step
Brokutsu
Two landable planets. The search shouldn't take too long. Unless the ship has been pushed to the gas giant: in that case, the investigation will be concluded very quickly.
Find the space ship.
Once the step is completed, proceed to the next step
The wreck
Finally, the wreck reveals itself to you on planet Brokutsu 3 a.
Nearby, a small abandoned facility: Stott’s Inheritance.
You land nearby and inspect the wreck.
Which ship is it?

For once, the flight recorder is accessible without detours, without endless absurd procedures capable of exasperating even the most patient agent.
The flight recorder reveals the following information:
=== FLIGHT DATA RECORD ===
SHIP TYPE: EAGLE (Manufacturer Core Dynamics)
CHASSIS NUMBER: XG-7F92-44B1-AE03 POWER CORE STATUS: DAMAGED LIFE SUPPORT: DAMAGED
CARGO MANIFEST: 4.0T
FUEL LEVEL: 30% ENGINE STATUS: DAMAGED LAST KNOWN COORDINATES: BROKUTSU [-57.21875 / 11.6875 / -31.9375]
FLIGHT PLAN: UNKNOWN
No flight plan or data points to help you.
You head for the facility to inspect the premises. Two strange data points reveal that someone has been tampering with things here...
In these data links, you can retrieve a file that appears to have been encrypted:
Junior, if you’re reading this, then you’ve found my ship.
I don’t know what shot me down, the scanner was clear all the way up to impact. I’ve looked around and the site’s been cleared out, if you’ve got an SRV maybe it can strip something they missed from the refuge computers. I’m activating my emergency beacon. Our family’s rescue insurance should be valid in this system, somebody’s bound to pick me up soon. I hope. I’ll see you back at the barn. Fly safe, Uncle Stan

Once in the Batara Kala system, head for the only outpost available: Sayadian Relay.
Once the step is completed, proceed to the next step
Sayadian Relay
At Sayadian Relay, in the medical block, you'll find the original death certificate, which clearly states that Stan would have arrived here before he died.
The subject was transferred alive but in critical condition to the station's medical facilities. On admission, altered state of consciousness, massive hemorrhage and severe respiratory distress. The lesions observed consisted of deep penetrating cuts, oriented from back to front at thoracic level. The mutilations revealed traces of a xenomorphic substance. No tissue burns observed. Compatibility with a vessel accident considered low. Anatomopathological examination limited by the general condition of the body. However, the subject bears impressive scars on his back and thorax. Biological markers and personal effects concordant, allowing definite identification. Death noted shortly after admission due to severity of lesions and lack of response to interventions.
The available elements were deemed sufficient to establish the cause of death and validate the official act.

The wreck found on Brokutsu tells a different story. Many of the elements for its identification either don't match or are woefully illegible. And above all, you're in possession of a communication that proves he was still very much alive three years later.
The body, on the other hand, is still in situ, stuck in the red tape. You decide to exhume Stan's remains in order to check his DNA. GIC keeps a genetic sample of every policyholder, taken when the policy is signed.
So, with the help of a geneticist, you can easily compare Stan's DNA with the body preserved here.
First and foremost, to identify the body among hundreds of others, you need to get your hands on the right file... But with such a flawed filing system, it's easy to see why Stan's family were never able to recover his body.
In the folder, you will find a few personal effects:
×
At this stage, his ID card doesn't provide anything of note.
Regarding the collectible card, it's heavily worn. The title is illegible but the text remains comprehensible "Explore the station and match the image’s location, hidden secrets are bound to surface."
And finally, the famous jinxed family photo.
Nothing special, unless... But you don't have time to dwell on it. There's a more urgent matter: you're expected to extract the body from cold storage for DNA verification.

As is frequently the case, DNA samples show gaps or anomalies in the automatic sequencing. It is therefore necessary to complete the genome manually.

The genome also has to be completed manually.
Complete the missing line of this logical sequence (line 5 would be: 11-----11):
- I think the number of lines between the 1's is no coincidence....
- I believe a set of rules generates each line....
For example 'If a 1 is surrounded by two 1s, it disappears on the next line'.
- Let's look for the other rules with the data we have. A 1 generates another 1 next to it. That's why the 1 in the first line generates two 1s in the next line, one to its left and one to its right, forming: 111.

DNA Sequence Comparison .......................... 0.00001% Allele Set Concordance ........................... ERROR Mitochondrial Profile ............................ ERROR Y-Chromosome Signature ........................... ERROR
Result : UNKNOWN IDENTITY Subject : Property of the Klatt Enterprises station
The two DNAs don't match and reveal two different identities. Sayadian Relay's remains are therefore not Stan Grayling. The death certificate has been falsified. But even stranger, the subject appears to be the property of the Klatt Enterprises facility.
"I've never seen genetic code like this..." he murmurs, his eyes riveted to the sequences scrolling across his screen.
He methodically continues to generate the next lines of the individual's DNA code. And to make the data more legible, he has replaced each '1' with a black box and each 'dash' with a white box, transforming the sequence into a visual binary pattern.
"Holy s***," you say in unison with the geneticist.
The whole looks like a kind of hypnotic mosaic, each line faithfully translating a fragment of the body's DNA.
It must be hiding something... We need to find the key to the model.
At the top of the pyramid, you will find the beginning of the sequence you completed:
1 = black square
0 = white square
1
111
11011
1111111
110000011
The geneticist has found a tool to help you decipher the pattern.
Help yourself to the enlarged image to find the 8 rules that generate this pattern.
- Let's take the first rule to be defined in the tool: 111
- 'If you want a '1' surrounded by two '1's to die on the next line', then uncheck the box below.
- 'If you want a '1' surrounded by two '1's to survive to the next line', then check the box below.
Do the same with the next rule (110) and so on. Check or uncheck the box below each rule to make the middle '1' die, survive or die depending on what's around it.
Then click on "Start" to generate a template according to the established rules. Look for a match with the diagram above.
Indicate the model number corresponding to the DNA schematic.
Password:
You've finally got your hands on the DNA-generated model number. And now? Indicate your next destination.
To get past this impasse, take up the last elements one by one: - An unlisted facility: Klatt Enterprises, to which the individual seems to be linked.
- Its DNA is based on sequencing of the model 126.
- On him, personal documents that seem to hide things...
- And among them, an explicit message: "Explore the station and match the image’s location, hidden secrets are bound to surface."

In the Alnath system, there's not a living soul. A dead system. Yet there must be something left... a facility, perhaps forgotten for decades. If the map mentions this system on its reverse side, it's certainly not by chance...

Finally, installation on sight. You quickly recognize the old structures: an INRA base. A shiver runs down your spine. You land nearby and set off, on foot (*), to find the location of the collectible card. (*) It's not necessary to scan the logs for this adventure. You can do it in VRS, but pack your VRS back into the ship before continuing on foot.
When you've found the exact map location (this location is unique on the base), move on to the next step.

Experience
Your steps lead you instinctively to the plaque in the center of the pit. This symbol... the virus Mycoide. No sooner does your weight rest on it than it suddenly sinks a few centimeters. A violent metallic clang, followed by a dull rumble, reverberates throughout the base, as if the structure itself were awakening.
You receive a transmission :
" Agent! I warned you… and you walked straight into the ambush. You’ve just triggered the trap. They’ve awakened, and they won’t be long before they arrive. I’m transmitting an application to you: an audio detection module to load into your suit. It’s your only chance to spot them… by ear. These creatures are invisible… and you’ve just set them free.
Return to your ship immediately. But be careful: do not run, and avoid walking directly on the ground. Use the surrounding structures. And if you hear them coming… fire blindly, towards the sound! "

Safe and secure
You finally return to your ship, breathless, still stalked by the echo of their screams. These creatures... they were most likely responsible for the mutilation and death of the individual we passed off as Stan on Sayadian Relay.
There's every reason to believe that this was a clone, one of many sacrificed in obscure, morbid experiments with thargoids at the frontiers of science.
That still doesn't tell you where Stan is... He's probably never been here.
But someone obviously wanted you to believe it. The whole thing was staged with one aim in mind: to trap you with a corpse. You dive back into your documents, convinced that you've missed a detail that may hold the key to finding Stan.
A document in your possession is still partially unreadable. Find it and find a way to unlock it.

As his message indicated, you gain the orbit of 5 c in search of the wreckage. Among the debris, you scan the little flight recorder to read its original message and recover Stan Grayling's survival pod (*RolePlay), but the vital signs are unfortunately all off. (*RolePlay) In reality, there's no pod to recover, only a flight recorder.
He brings with him the answers to why he's here. Was he forced into Salvation's madness? Or was he driven by a sudden burst of patriotism against the Thargoids? And why didn't he tell those closest to him? No one will ever know. Only one thing is certain: the body can be returned to his family.
But now you're obsessed with a question: who, within the GIC itself and under cover of Stan Grayling's false lead, sent you to your probable death on Klatt Enterprises?
To be continued...
