The Mysterious Station

Since your recent success in solving the Mystery of the Thetis, your name has begun to circulate. Many unsolved cases would like to find a conclusion, but unfortunately you cannot deal with all of them. However, one of them has caught your attention.

The Science Corporation of the Daraki system has given you an appointment at McAuley Vision. A coded message has been deposited there for you. According to them, this investigation is of paramount importance. As usual, there is only one way to find out....

The Request

You finally land on this base. Charming as it may be, you would have preferred to receive the message directly in your inbox as usual.

As soon as you set foot on the base, you automatically receive the famous message:

--- BEGIN OF ENCRYPTED MESSAGE ---

Greetings CMDR and thank you for taking the trouble to come here.

The information we are about to provide you with is very critical, which is why we are taking all possible precautions.

We learned that a very interesting experiment was conducted not far from here by an old top-secret research group. If we can get its results, we could advance science and the fight against Thargoids.

Our source was able to identify the Gliese 452.3 system as the starting point of the trail. A listening post is hidden there, find it. She did not want to go any further for fear of retaliation from her employer. We are counting on you to follow her.

Humanity will thank you CMDR.

--- END OF ENCRYPTED MESSAGE ---

All you have to do is go to the site to follow the trail. Go !

Once you've completed this step, move on to the next.

The Track

Once in the system, find the hidden signal without too much difficulty.

The message seems incomplete. Impossible to know whether it is voluntary or not. In any case, the trail seems to split into two other systems.
There is no choice, you will have to visit both to reconstruct the message...

Listening Post

Visit the other two systems to recompose the complete message.

Once you've completed this step, move on to the next.

The Trilateration

You have finally recovered the two missing messages. But no matter how much you reread them, they do not indicate a precise system, only coordinates.

After a few minutes of reflection you finally remember your space navigation lessons!

These coordinates hide your target, and the only way to reveal its location is to use the Trilateration!

Find the source of the message!
To continue, enter the system obtained from the Trilateration of the three Listening Posts.

Bravo !!!
You managed to identify the target system and a strange place on the planet 10 b.

Go there without wasting time!

Once you've completed this step, move on to the next.

The Station

You finally get to the source of the message, and apparently it surprises you more than it should:

A settlement!

Jackson Enterprise

However, when you arrive, you discover with terror that the place is deserted.
Although there are 3 data links, it seems that only one is functioning:

MAINTENANCE REPORT 1/3

'Ok, okay, I got it. I'm just reactivating the generator now. I'll be back to base in a few hours.

I don’t know why I should be out here doing all the work, when it’s those jerks at command that caused the problem.

This whole system is a horrific hack job. I know we’re an exploration team, but whoever worked out the locations of the beacons really didn’t think about us poor wretches having to drive out to fix them every 3 days.'

There, that's a good mystery. Apparently the operators were forced to come back here every 3 days to repair the generator. But all this seems like just a coindication, but maybe it's not.
Decide to take a look inside the facility, where perhaps you can find some additional clues about it.

To enter the facility, enter the 5-digit password corresponding to the degrees of the coordinates where you are now, using only numbers (example: if the coordinates were 12,345 and -167,890, enter only 12167)

Once you've completed this step, move on to the next.

Inside the Structure

Succeed in hacking the door to the main building. If you are lucky you may be able to shed light on this mystery.
Reach the Generator room without encountering a soul. You approach the panel and start the power-up sequence. To your amazement, the station is powered up!

The image shows a MORTIS CLAW, a deadly alien animal

Perhaps this is why the station was abandoned. I wonder if this creature is still in the vicinity...

Notice also that there are two messages present with the image. They are probably saves of the two damaged listening posts outside:

MAINTENANCE REPORT 2/3

'While the whole system was rebooting, I took the opportunity to look at the archives. They send us here every three days, but no one knows why. So we took a gamble with the other exploration teams.

We thought it was an emergency weapons depot, Team B thought it was a shelter, and Team C thought it was a secret prison... but we were really far from the truth, because this base was a large-scale test for an experimental creature. There is even a photo!'

MAINTENANCE REPORT 3/3

'Looking at the arrival and departure logs I see that this creature was brought here by a transport shuttle from the HIP 12099 system to the planet 1 A.

Of course in the utmost secrecy, the inhabitants of the base never knew about it.... well yes, but it was too late.'

Gosh...it was therefore an experiment!

Another strange weapon that rebelled against its creator... In any case, the trail continues, heading HIP 12099 1 A!

Once you've completed this step, move on to the next.

The Laboratory

Finally on the spot, you discover the horror of the experiments. This place has been deserted for many years now, and it is better that way.

You also notice that some Log data links are still active. They reveal the history of this strange place to you:

Stack Laboratorio

...Bypassing security protocols...

...Secure connection established...

...Personal log 1/4...

Always the same results. I keep telling them: there’s only so much we can do with the samples we’ve been given.

We need a living specimen.

...Bypassing security protocols...

...Secure connection established...

...Personal log 2/4...

Apparently they listened to me. We’ve been asked to build some testing apparatus and a secure enclosure. I drew up a preliminary specification but was told that the enclosure needed to be more robust.

These creatures must be tremendously strong.

...Bypassing security protocols...

...Secure connection established...

...Personal log 3/4...

The specimen arrived today. The security reports indicate that it made several escape attempts, the most recent of which results in a number of deaths. We must take every precaution.

The specimen appears to be in poor physical health, but it’s undoubtedly alive, and it will certainly serve our purposes.

...Bypassing security protocols...

...Secure connection established...

...Personal log 4/4...

The specimen is highly resilient and seems to be able to withstand severe physical trauma, even to the point of losing limbs. I am reminded of pulling the legs off spiders as a child. Fortunately, testing on a nonhuman means no legal red tape to slow things down.

Tomorrow we will begin experimenting with chemical and biological weapons. These creatures may be tough, but we will find their weakness.

So they really experimented here. On Thargoid, to boot!

But unfortunately for them it went wrong. Or fortunately, depending on your point of view.

They seemed to be working on behalf of a much larger organization. Strange...

In any case, you have the results of this damned experiment. You can pass them on to the scientific corporation and, just like the technician on Jackson Enterprise, forget this sordid story.
